Michelle Schaefer, MA, LCPC

Michelle Schaefer, LCPC, PMH-C, is an EMDR-certified therapist and consultant-in-training, offering consultation to therapists for foundational hours within Touchstone as well as hours towards EMDRIA certification. She is a partner and clinician at Cherry Hill Counseling, a multi-location practice in the Chicago suburbs, where she works with women and couples navigating life transitions and the unique challenges of women's reproductive events.

Michelle's clinical work centers on perinatal and maternal mental health, supporting clients through infertility, pregnancy or infant loss, abortion grief or shame, perinatal and perimenopausal mood disorders, birth or medical trauma, and the adjustment to parenting. She holds advanced certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International and is certified in the application of EMDR with perinatal trauma. Through her own work and life experience, she has come to know that parenting can be tough, and she loves walking alongside individuals and couples on this journey. She is especially passionate about partner-inclusive care, believing that fathers and birthing partners are too often overlooked in perinatal support, and that involving the whole family is the best model for the flourishing of babies, parents, and the couple's relationship.

As an EMDR consultant-in-training, Michelle provides individual and group consultation to therapists completing foundational training hours or working toward certification. She finds deep meaning in helping clinicians build confidence with EMDR, especially as it applies to perinatal and reproductive trauma, and offers a safe landing place for consultees to bring complex cases and questions as they grow in this work.
