With many therapy modalities, including EMDR therapy,  practitioners struggle with understanding how to integrate EMDR into their work with couples. This course seeks to address the misconceptions and challenges of working with couples while taking into consideration the complexities of relationships in a healthy and productive manner. Participants are encouraged to expand their own knowledge of conceptualizing and working with couples within a trauma-focused lens for clinical practice.

This course will also help decrease overall fear/anxiety and increase personal confidence in working with EMDR and couple-related issues.   In this distance learning course, participants are given an overview of different approaches to treat couple-related issues in connection with EMDR resourcing and protocols in the stabilization and preparation phases of trauma work. Participants will receive thorough instruction on how to set up a treatment plan focusing on the merging of couple work and EMDR standard protocol and assist clients in better understanding their couple work and developing effective tools to improve their emotional functioning.
