Andrea "Andi" Metcalf is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and EMDRIA approved Consultant. Andrea is Trained in EquiLateral: The Equine Assisted EMDR Protocol ® and provides Equine-Assisted Counseling at Heartland Therapeutic Riding, inc. in Kansas City. Andi specializes in EMDR for Perinatal & Reproductive Trauma and trauma treatment for Helping Professionals (Medical Providers, Trauma Therapists, and First Responders). Extensive clinical practice includes 15+ years in acute medical and mental health settings: Emergency & Crisis Intervention, Inpatient Hospital Admissions (Mental Health, Medical ICU, NICU, and Mother/Baby Units), Intensive Outpatient Mental Health (IOP groups), and EquiLateral: Equine-Assisted EMDR Therapy for individuals, families, and groups. Raised in a first-responder household, Andi is daughter and sister to retired and active duty first-responders who routinely remind her that “ignition sources” (candles) and “securing the perimeter” (locking the front door) is no joke! ​ After becoming a micro-preemie mom in 2012, and decades of navigating medical and mental health systems Andrea found her "trifecta of passion" providing EMDR for medical patients and helping professionals, WITH HORSES, in Kansas City. Andi is dedicated to leaving a legacy that ensures providers and families have access to exceptional support for trauma, burnout, compassion fatigue, and maintaining Mental wellness.
