Aziza Jones Owusu is a captivating speaker, caring mentor, and skilled mental health clinician. For more than a decade and a half, Aziza has served as a psychotherapist, coach, and a clinical and administrative supervisor of other mental health care providers.
Aziza specializes in providing culturally relevant mental health care for women and people of color, issues related to chronic medical illness, caregiving, and perinatal mental health. She has worked in diverse settings, such as the National Institutes of Health, the US military and other community-based mental health care settings. Her work with the military led her to serve communities throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
Aziza holds an MSW degree from the premier Smith College School for Social Work and has been recognized by the Smith College Executive Standing Committee for innovative perspectives in Clinical Social Work research for her Master’s thesis entitled, Humor as Resilience: African-American Stand-up Comedy and Collective Identity. She is a candidate for certification in the Postpartum Support International Perinatal Mental Health Program and is a RETAIN Certified Parental Leave Coach.
