Karen Savage

Karen is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) provider who is passionate about supporting women through all stages of life, with a particular focus on motherhood and the perinatal period. She understands that women often carry many roles at once - and that transitions involving identity, relationships, careers, fertility, pregnancy, motherhood, and loss can bring both expected and unexpected challenges. Karen specializes in supporting women navigating pregnancy and postpartum adjustment, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, infertility, miscarriage and loss, birth trauma, anxiety, depression, and other traumatic experiences. As a mother herself, she brings both professional expertise and a genuine understanding of the complexities of motherhood, including the pressure to care for everyone else while trying to maintain a sense of self. As a PMH-C provider with advanced training in EMDR, Karen uses evidence-based approaches to help women process difficult experiences, better understand themselves, and create meaningful change. Her therapeutic style is warm, genuine, and collaborative, with a healthy dose of humor, hope, and encouragement. She believes therapy should be something clients actively participate in, and works alongside each woman to determine the approach that best fits her needs, goals, and life. Above all, Karen strives to create a space where women feel understood, supported, and empowered to move toward the life they want - not only as mothers, partners, professionals, or caregivers, but as whole people. Karen provides both in-person and telehealth therapy to clients throughout Maryland.
