Erin Spahr

Erin Spahr, LCPC, LCMHC, PMH-C, is a licensed therapist with over a decade of experience supporting women through the complex emotional terrain of pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. She holds a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International and is trained in EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Gottman Method. Her clinical work is grounded in attachment theory, parts work (IFS), and a feminist, social justice–oriented lens that acknowledges both personal and systemic contributors to distress. Erin is known for her down-to-earth presence, compassionate insight, and ability to hold space for deep emotional work while offering clear, direct feedback. She currently offers EMDR therapy to perinatal clients and runs a consultation group for fellow perinatal mental health providers. In therapy, Erin creates a warm, nonjudgmental space where all emotions are welcome—including laughter and tears, often in the same session. She helps clients explore early attachment wounds, internalized beliefs about motherhood, and the social conditioning that often leads to guilt, burnout, or a loss of self. Her integrative approach combines trauma-informed tools like EMDR and parts work with insight-oriented exploration and relational attunement. Drawing from her own lived experience as a mother and her leadership roles in the field—including her work co-founding the Perinatal Mood Disorders Clinic at Johns Hopkins Bayview—Erin brings a deep well of empathy, clinical skill, and advocacy to her work. She is passionate about helping mothers reclaim agency, heal emotionally, and build more secure, connected relationships with themselves and others.
