Johanna Neumann

Johanna is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), providing care to clients in both California and Massachusetts. She is deeply passionate about supporting women through life’s transitions and challenges, with a particular focus on the perinatal period. Having personally navigated the complexities of birth trauma and postpartum mood disorders, Johanna brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work. She understands the profound emotional and physical toll of this time and believes that no one should ever feel alone, isolated, or overwhelmed by stigma or fear—especially when it comes to maternal mental health. Johanna views therapy as a collaborative journey. She believes her clients are the experts of their own lives, and she walks alongside them, offering support, insight, and encouragement. Her approach is holistic and strengths-based, grounded in each client’s resilience and supported by practical tools and resources. Together, Johanna and her clients explore challenges and develop a path forward that reflects their values, goals, and sense of well-being. Johanna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and a Master’s degree in Social Work. Her professional background spans various areas, including medical social work, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and parenting education. These diverse experiences shape her warm, validating, and pragmatic therapeutic style. Outside of her professional life, Johanna lives in California with her partner and their three young children—a school-aged son and twin toddlers. She enjoys spending time outdoors, crafting, and traveling whenever possible.
