Michelle Lavergne is a registered social worker and a certified perinatal mental health care provider (Postpartum Support International). Her practice has a focus on women’s health including perinatal mental health, parenting transitions and eating disorders. She has extensive experience working with adolescents and families, working from a cognitive behavioural and strengths-based approach. Michelle is committed to providing supportive, transparent and collaborative work with all of her clients.
Michelle holds a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Toronto. Her undergraduate degree is in Women’s Studies and Sociology and helped to form the foundation of her interest in working with women. She is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
She is also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).
Six years ago, she completed advanced graduate training at the Postpartum Stress Centre in Philadelphia and started her own practice with a focus on women’s health. Michelle has completed a specialized certificate in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International. She is currently completing a certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Wilfred Laurier University.
Michelle is committed to ongoing learning. She currently works at a major school board, and is a passionate advocate for youth with mental health and learning issues in the education system. Previously she worked in adolescent mental health programs in hospitals including North York General Hospital and Southlake Regional Health Centre.
