Somayeh Shunk

Somayeh has extensive experience in the areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, and emotion regulation. She also provide support and treatment for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Through her years of experience I have been able to effectively build therapeutic rapport with individuals and has been able to help adults gain a better understanding of their experiences in order to achieve their goals. Her counseling style is warm, caring and practical, and I base treatment around the individual's unique needs and situation. She has been trained in and utilizes Cognitive Processing therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help an individual make changes in their lives. Somayeh’s educational background includes an M.S. in Community Counseling from University of Phoenix, and a B.A. in Psychology from University of Arizona. She has worked in the field of behavioral health for thirteen years and have been a therapist since 2010.
