Toni Culcasi

After becoming a mom herself, Toni became passionate about using her experience with EMDR to help women wanting to process perinatal experiences. Toni and her sisters all had their first-born children within 8 months of each other. But during that time period they were caring for their mother until her passing one month before the birth of Toni's daughter. Toni recognized the differences in the ways that her and her sisters processed their pregnancies, grief, deliveries, and postpartum experiences. She became inspired to pursue additional training and found The Touchstone Institute! Prior to this, her career focused on helping clients process trauma and chronic pain with EMDR. There were many clients who had trauma in their backgrounds that resurfaced when they had their own children. Sometimes physically seeing the age you were during different events in your life sets your mind up for a more vivid image and memory to surface from the past. EMDR can also be helpful for women wanting to process their own past trauma in order to release past experiences, pain, and hurt. This can clear a way for more focus in the present and greater connection in the future with your baby, partner, friends, family, and most importantly yourself. Toni has her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University. She completed the S.A.F.E. EMDR basic training (Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR) through the Personal Transformation Institute (PTI) and then went through PTI’s 10 month certification program. She is now an EMDRIA certified therapist as well as an EMDRIA certified consultant. Toni specializes in perinatal processing, chronic pain, and trauma.
